Poems for any occasion

Aliens stole my underpants

to understand the ways

of alien beings is hard

and I've never worked it out

why they landed in my back yard.

and I've always wondered why

on their journey from the stars

these aliens stole my underpants

and took them back to mars.

they came on Monday night

when the weekend wash had been done,

pegged out on the line

to be dried in the morning sun.

Mrs. driver from next door

was a witness at the scene

when aliens snatched my underpants

I'm glad that they were clean!

it seems they were quite choosy

as nothing else was taken

do aliens wear underpants

or were they just mistaken?

I think I have a theory

as to what they wanted them for

they need to block off a draught

blowing through the spaceship door.

or maybe some mars museum

wanted items back from space

just think a pair of my y-fronts

displayed in their own glass case.

and on a label beneath

would be written where they got them

and how such funny underwear

once covered an earthlings bottom

Cleaning

Water comes from the shower,
I could stay in there for an hour.
It gets the dirt,
Off my shirt,
When I use washing powder.

Bradley F, Aged 10 St Mary's Westbook

Water

When rain falls
The water is fresh
It fills up our rivers
And feeds our plants
But what would be do
If our rivers were dry
And we couldn’t drink or swim.

Adam F, Year 5 of Hall Grove School

The Rainy Day

'Tis the summer holidays,
I bet it will rain,
This British weather,
Really is a pain.

But in some lands,
Far away,
They hope and pray,
For a rainy day.

We cannot live,
The land is dry,
That is what
The people cry.

So when you wake up,
And it is wet,
You're very lucky,
Don't forget.

Christina aged 10 from St Mary's Westbook

The Tsunami

A cataclysmic explosion,
Rocks, debris, dust, erosion.

Water rises, high, high,
The fish think they have reached the sky.

It's huge, immense, now almost full size,
America's East Cost is in for a surprise!

It travels swift and fast towards New York,
A fat American is eating roast port.

He looks up, stomach full, screams and runs aay,
A tumultuous event, an apocalyptic day.

Miles T, Year 8 Moorlands School

Water, water

To the tune of Twinkle, twinkle, little star

Fresh, clean, water we need some,
African hygiene we need to overcome.
Pipelines, wells, provide them please,
Any spare water, we'll water our trees!
Fresh, clean, water we need some,
Children thirsty, dying in the sun

Fresh, clean, water we need some
Indian sanitation we need to overcome.
Monsoons, plenty of rain,
Make it hygienic we don't want pain.
Fresh, clean, water we need some,
cattle thirsty, toasting in the sun.

Water-Aid charity, we'll help you,
Johannesburg Summit, they'll try too.
Fundraising be aware,
We will help, because we care.
It doesn't take long, we get it quick,
Others take ages but become sick.

Lauren D, Raglan Primary School

Just imagine, if you can!

Water is one of our special daily needs,
It has been for the past, present and will be for the life that leads.
Fresh clean water essential for our health,
It really doesn't matter about variable wealth.

Do you see? Do you understand?
Come and join our fund-raising band!
Just imagine if you can
The terrible suffering of our fellow man!

How would it make you feel?
You just can't imagine, it can't be real!
The risk of those caught in a drought,
Surely must want to make you come and SHOUT!!

Diarrhoea and disease take their toll,
Developed countries have an important role.
Education, funds and self-help,
We have it easy, but others want to help!

Just imagine, if you can
The terrible suffering of our fellow man.

Maliha M, Raglan Primary School

It aint gonna rain no-more!

It aint gonna rain no-more,
It aint gonna rain no-more,
How in the heck will we wash the neck,
If it aint gonna rain no-more!

Priya C, aged 8 from Darras Hall First School
